Bio: Defender Oluwaseyi (Seyi) Abolaji joins the Sounders for his first professional outdoor season. Fresh off of his first season with Major Indoor Soccer League’s California Cougars, the 23 year-old, Nigerian native provides Coach Schmetzer another durable player on the Sounders’ new backline.
A 2004 graduate at Stanford University, Abolaji played in 51 games during his career, starting all 17 matches his senior season. Abolaji developed into Standford’s defensive stalwart his sophomore season before suffering an injury which kept him off the pitch his junior year. Contributing on offense, Abolaji recorded two assists throughout his career, one in each of his sophomore and senior seasons.
Starting his professional soccer career in 2005 in the MISL, Abolaji played in 22 matches scoring two goals and added five assists for the California Cougars.
