Posted 11/16/2004

(Seattle, Wash.) - - The Major Indoor Soccer League announced its latest Players of the Week winners Monday. Sounders goalkeeper Danny Waltman earned Goalkeeper of the Week with the Chicago Storm of the MISL.

Waltman stopped 29 of 34 shots as Chicago enjoyed a hugely successful sweep through Baltimore and Philadelphia over the weekend. Waltman had 18 saves, including 10 in the fourth quarter, during the Storm’s 3-1 victory over the two-time defending MISL Champion Baltimore Blast on Nov. 13. The 23-year-old MISL rookie then stopped 11 of 15 shots when Chicago defeated previously-undefeated Philadelphia, 7-4 on Nov. 14.

The Gig Harbor, Wash., native is 4-1 for the Storm (4-2), which currently trails the Milwaukee Wave (4-1) by one-half game in the MISL Central Division. Waltman has started five of six games for Chicago, and is currently leading the League in saves with 73. He is tied for the lead in goalkeeping victories at four, is third in save percentage (.745), and is fourth in goals-against average (4.95).
