Seattle Sounders defender Zach Scott and forward Nathan Knox were both named to the USL First Division team of the week following the Sounders 1-0 win in their home opener at Qwest Field Saturday night.

Scott was chosen as the “Man of the Match” for his dominating performance in the backline that held Portland to five shots on goal and only one quality scoring opportunity.

Knox scored the only goal of the match with the faintest of touches during a goal line scramble involving Timbers keeper Josh Wicks and one of his defenders after a Josh Gardner cross.

The Sounders are in action again Friday night in Portland in a nationally televised match against the Timbers which will start at 8pm on Fox Soccer Channel. They return home Saturday night for a 7pm kick-off against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Qwest Field.
