Seattle Sounders Danny Jackson and Roger Levesque were named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for their contributions in the teams back to back wins over Carolina and California.
Jackson showed his versatility by moving from his usual defensive role into more of a holding midfielder position. His presence in the middle of the field allowed the Sounders to push forward and utilize their offensive talent more fully.
Over the past two seasons Roger Levesque has become the symbol of versatility for the Sounders. He has moved between a forward and midfield role and currently leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist on the season.
The Sounders moved as high as third in the table after the two wins and currently sit in fifth place and are unbeaten in two matches.
This weekend the Sounders will take a break from league play for an exhibition match against Chivas USA from Major League Soccer.
The match will be former Sounder’s forward Maykel Galindo’s first game in Seattle since transferring to Chivas USA in the off season. Galindo has scored five goals and created two more on the season and sits in third place overall on the scoring leader table.
Tickets for the match are available through ticketmaster.com and at 15 Pawn Exchange locations throughout the Seattle area.
