CHIVAS USA ANNOUNCES 18 MAN ROSTER FOR SATURDAY'S MATCH
Posted 6/1/2007

Chivas USA from Major League Soccer announced their travel roster for Saturday Night’s 7pm match against the Seattle Sounders at Qwest Field.

Highlighting the roster are:

Maykel Galindo Less than two years after defecting from Cuba during the 2005 Gold Cup in Seattle, Galindo has won a championship with the Sounders in 2005, played well enough through an abbreviated season with the Sounders in 2006 to secure an off season transfer to Major League Soccer and currently leads Chivas USA in scoring. His tally of five goals and two assists through eight matches is good enough for third on the MLS scoring chart.

Claudio Suarez Suarez is the most accomplished defender in the history of the Mexican National Team. He’s been chosen to play for his country 178 times and has become synonymous with the number two jersey throughout Mexico. His professional career began in 1988 and has included spells with UNAM Pumas, Tigres and Chivas Guadalajara. In 2006 Suarez joined Chivas USA and helped to lead the squad to their first ever playoff appearance.

Brad Guzan At just 22 years old, Bad Guzan has shown that he is equipped to keep up a long tradition of quality American Goal Keepers. He was drafted by Chivas USA in 2005 and this season has started all eight matches and is tied for the league lead with three shutouts. Guzan received his first call up to the U.S. National Team on February 19, 2006 when he started in a 4-0 victory over Guatemala.

Paolo Nagamura Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nagamura’s professional career began with Sao Paolo FC. He was purchased by the English club Arsenal in 2001 and helped to lead their U-19 squad to a league title in 2002. In 2005 Nagamura moved to MLS and signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He started this season with Toronto FC and was traded to Chivas USA after four matches as a replacement for the departed Amado Guevara.

John Cunliffe Chivas USA took Cunliffe with the 7th overall pick in this year’s MLS Draft. The England born forward has played in the youth systems of both Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers. He attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango Colorado and scored 75 goals and 62 assists in 82 appearances.
