The Seattle Sounders opponents in Tuesday night’s U.S. Open Cup second round match at Starfire Sports Entertainment Complex on Tuesday night, the Portland Timbers, arrived in Seattle on Monday to prepare for one of the most intriguing clashes in the history of the Sounders Timbers I-5 rivalry.
The Sounders finished training on Monday practicing spot kicks ahead of the winner take all match. The team will have to manage again without the services of their captain Danny Jackson, who is in England finishing his application for his green card, but it looks as though Leighton O’Brien has returned to full fitness and will figure in the match.
Seattle is desperate to improve after their disappointing performance in Saturday night’s regular season match against the Montreal Impact at Qwest Field. Portland, who is off to a great start in their regular season schedule, is looking to avenge a loss and a draw to the Sounders early in the year.
The winner of the match will host Chivas USA of Major League Soccer in the third round of the tournament.
Discounted $13 tickets are available online through ticketmaster.com until midnight on Monday June 25th and by phone at 206-622-3415 until noon on the 26th. After 12 PM on the 26th, tickets will be $15 and available at the gate.
Parking at the Starfire Sports Entertainment Complex will be $8 per vehicle. Ticket holders arriving between 5 and 6 PM will be able to get a free slice of Pizza from Mad Pizza by showing their ticket at the Mad Pizza store in the upper level of the Starfire Sports Entertainment Complex.
