SOUNDERS WILL FACE COLORADO IF THEY ADVANCE PAST CHIVAS USA
Posted 7/10/2007

The Seattle Sounders learned Tuesday night that if they defeat Chivas USA and advance to the quarter finals of the U.S. Open cup, they will host a match against the Colorado Rapids. The match would take place on August 7th at Qwest Field, pending final approval from the stadium.

Colorado defeated the California Victory of the USL First Division 2-0 on Tuesday night to advance to the quarter finals and face either the Sounders or Chivas USA.

Also advancing on the night were the Richmond Kickers of the USL Second Division, who pulled a major upset over the LA Galaxy of MLS. The Houston Dynamo joined the Galaxy on the wrong side of an upset when they lost 1-0 to the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division.

The New England Revolution eliminated the Rochester Raging Rhinos from the tournament 4-2 and Monday night Atlanta fell in penalty kicks to FC Dallas.

DC United face the Harrisburg Islanders Wednesday night and the round finishes with the Sounders vs Chivas USA at Qwest Field on July 18.
