The Seattle Sounders and U.S. Soccer today announced the Seattle side would host the U.S. Open Cup Final on October 2nd; to advance to the championship match, the Sounders must defeat FC Dallas of Major League Soccer on September 4th at Qwest Field.
In the championship, the Sounder would face the winner of the New England Revolution (MLS) vs Carolina Railhawks (USL 1).
The September 4th match will mark the first time that the Sounders have advanced to the US Open Cup Semifinals in the Major League Soccer era. Their only other trip to the semifinals was in 1995 when they lost to the El Paso Patriots.
