SOUNDERS WIN SECOND IN A ROW, 2-1 OVER ROMARIO AND MIAMI FC

The Seattle Sounders defeated the legendary ''Romario'' and Miami FC 2-1 at Qwest Field. The Sounders took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals scored by Jordan Harvey and CJ Klaas. With a late goal Miami attempted a comeback, but the Sounders held on to secure the victory moving up in the standings with 19 points.
Sutton, Weaver Wipe Out Islanders 2-1

The Seattle Sounders defeated the Puerto Rico Islanders 2-1 at Qwest Field in their first home match since June 2nd. Sounder Forward Jamal Sutton gave the Sounders an early lead as they dominated the first half of play. Tied 1-1 early in the second half, Sounder Forward Cam Weaver netted his 10th goal of the season to secure the win for the Sounders.
SOUNDERS’ MAHONEY RETURNS TO CHICAGO FIRE, WARD RETURNS TO ROSTER

The Seattle Sounders announced today Goalkeeper David Mahoney, on loan from Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire, has returned to Chicago for the remainder of the 2006 season. Filling the vacancy is the Sounders 2005 backup James Ward.

The Sounders invite all Sounder and soccer fans to watch the German v Argentina quarter finals match on Friday, June 30th at 8am at SPORT Restaurant with Danny Jackson, Maykel Galindo, Cam Weaver and Goalkeeper Chuck Granade. SPORT Restaurant is located in downtown Seattle featuring fantastic food and Seattle sports memorabilia, including the Sounders' 2005 USL First Division Championship Cup.
SOUNDERS BATTLE PUERTO RICO AND MIAMI FC’S ROMARIO THIS WEEK

After a four point road trip through Virginia Beach and Minnesota, the Seattle Sounders face two of the top teams in the league in the Puerto Rico Islanders and Miami FC. The Sounders are hoping to have two veteran defenders, Danny Jackson and Ben Somoza, return to action after missing several games with injuries.

The Seattle Sounders face the world's second all-time leading scorer in soccer history, ''Romario'' when his USL First Division team, Miami FC visits Seattle on July 1st at Qwest Field. With 959 career goals, Romario de Souza-Faria is rapidly approaching the magical number of 1,000 goals, an accomplishment only achieved by the legendary Pele. In 1994, Romario helped Brazil become World Cup Champions, winning his country's fourth World Cup title.
Weaver & Harvey Earn Team of the Week Honors

The USL First Division announced today Week 10’s Team of the Week selections. Chosen as the Player of the Week for his three goal performance on the Sounders latest road trip was rookie Forward Cam Weaver. Also receiving Team of the Week honors was new Defender Jordan Harvey, who recorded two assists against the Minnesota Thunder.
WEAVER NETS TWO IN 2-2 DRAW IN MINNESTOTA

(St. Paul, Minn.) - - The Seattle Sounders battled the Minnesota Thunder to a 2-2 draw at James Griffin Stadium in St. Paul, Minn. The Sounders took a 2-0 lead early in the match on two Cam Weaver goals. The Thunder then scored two unanswered to tie the match at 2-2 just 10 minutes later. Weaver’s two goals in the match now tie him with the league leader at nine goals on the season.
Sounders Look For First Road Win Against Mariners and Minnesota

The Seattle Sounders hit the road for a final trip in the month of June, playing games six and seven of the seven game road stretch. The Sounders visit the Virginia Beach Mariners on June 22nd and Minnesota Thunder on June 24th. Continuing to heal from injuries, the Sounders will once again play without the services of defenders, Danny Jackson, Ben Somoza and Zach Scott.
SOUNDERS END LOSING STREAK, SHUTOUT MARINERS 1-0

The Seattle Sounders picked up their first victory on the road and ended a five game losing streak defeating the Virginia Beach Mariners 1-0 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Rookie Forward Cam Weaver delivered once again, scoring his seventh goal of the season in the 90th minute helping the Sounders capture the victory.
